One day, a young manager was appointed to an old zoo. During his very
first tour of the zoo, he noticed a polar bear sitting in a narrow cage
that was much too small. The polar bear may have been too big for the
cage, but lost nothing of its essence of life. The polar bear paced from
one end of the five-meter-long cage to the other, its fierce, beautiful
roar echoing on each of its turns. The manager decided to construct a
large open cage with rocks and pools for the polar bear. The polar bear
could climb, sunbathe and swim almost as if it were in the wild. When
opening day came and the polar bear was introduced into his new
surroundings, the press and visitors waited excitedly for the new
attraction. The polar bear woke up, stretched slowly and started to walk
five meters forward and five back; its fierce, beautiful roar echoing on
each of its turns!
Now just, replace
polar bear with employees,
visitors with your customers,
the new cage with information technology.
This reflects the common misconceptions in today's economy.
